Hi community, I have a MacBook Pro touch bar 2016 15inch version. I accidentally fryed the power button flex cable at the point where it connects the motherboard and now I ended up with no power button. ( assume the button itself is good) I know simply buying a replace power button lose the Touch ID function. Is there a way to change just the power button flex cable (like a replacement flex cable) , preserving the power button so I will still have Touch ID, or I have to get a new power button?

Without pictures that help understanding what exactly is the damage it’s hard to give any real answer. If damage is very limited a good microsolderer might be able to recreate some missing traces but if the cable is severed for good that may be difficult or impossible. Flat cable is soldered to the touch ID/power button, there are no replacements for that. If it’s not fixable you’ll have to revert to Apple for a replacement as the power button is paired with T1 secure enclave chip.
