Hello, I ordered a replacement motherboard for my ps3, it was cheap because the seller broke off the power plug on the motherboard, but from the photos, I could see that I would be able to solder it back on. Well, I got the motherboard now and the pads are completely broken of the motherboard. Is it still possible to somehow solder it on or is it as good as dead? Photos :
Can I do something like this?
Edit: I finished the repair, soldered the connector to the board just like in the picture above. Here are the results, I cleaned it up later, don’t worry. I had to modify the top plate slightly, due to the connector being moved up a little bit. I used dremel to do it. All in all it works fine and ps3 is powering on.
@stanroy you can solder to it by using the trace. Clear the green masking off it (I use a scalpel for that). Then solder a wire from the connector points to either the traces or the solder points that are still standing. The bigger issue here is how to support the connector itself since there is no anchor point left to solder to. I would consider some hot glue. No Crazy Glue etc.
