So i broke my rear glass panel on my 4 day old s8+. Turns out these phones are so slick that they slip right out of your pocket. Mine hit a tiled floor on the edge, and the lower right corner of my screen cracked. all this while my case is coming in the mail… Anyway, because its only a small section which is going to be covered by a case eventually anyway, i was looking to repair it with some kind of resin, like the windscreen glass repairers use for chips. i think this should stop further crack propagation and hopefully also reseal the phone keeping it water proof. Or i will replace the back glass completely either myself, or through my insurance. I want to see the cost difference and difficulty first. There are no guides yet so could someone look at this? there will be alot of cracked front and back screens because this phone is so slippery.

Na Jo (d3vour3r), Presently not a lot out there on the repair of the S8+ or part availability, posted some links below of what I found, may answer some of your questions. Also recommend you keep trying a search on the Net. as the phone ages more info./parts will become available. Just a thought, when you mentioned auto window repair resin, I wonder if you could perhaps pop into a auto windshield repair business and have them apply the resin on the screen to stop cracking as a temporary fix. Definitely use warranty/insurance if you can. Good luck. With very little Technical experience its possible to replace the back panel of a Galaxy. Most importantly, you have to be mindful of your NFC pad and antennas on the mid frame. Knowing how to properly use a heat gun also helps but the part is less then $50 for an OEM back. That comes with precut adhesive. Let me know if you’d like a link and some pointers. Best of Luck!

so, i shattered the back really badly and i called Samsung and they charged me $70 to replace the back with free shipping. i was so surprised it was that affordable that i made sure to re-explain to the representative that the whole back would need to be replaced. she said it was really $70, im stoked!

Just saying it should be easy to replace, I’d assume it’s almost an identical process to the s6 and s7, however, be careful, if it’s only 4 days old you should definitely still have a warranty. Best buy even covers the first 30 days if you got it there. I haven’t seen any replacement parts for the s8 yet, and be careful trying to seal it. You may not still have waterproofing. Try claiming the warranty.

We need to start something with the galaxy s8 this is the second phone I got and the screen on it is broken like my last one after paying 200 dollars for this phone. I just got the phone yesterday and broke it yesterday dropped it and cracked. I am so mad and if this is a common problem we need to speak up and tell someone so someone can help us

my new 4 day old sg8 back is cracked …never saw it happen didn’t let it fall …just looked and there it was….devastated also when I ring out I can barely here the ring or the person talking….help

I thought Gorilla Glass was supposed to be the tough stuff? IE: NOT BREAK?! WTH…the entire back of my s8+ is cracked. The front is completely fine after a drop of 4 ft onto concrete but I had a case and screen protector on it. Someone needs to sue samsung for this.

@thedogswimmer https://youtu.be/x8ipQ-4n0fc http://www.mobiledefenders.com/samsung-g… Note the level of difficulty in the ifix it teardown. As mentioned I’d recommend playing cards over any metal or hard plastic tools, makes it too easy to damage something behind the cover. It’s tempered glass so it’s some what flexible but extremely brital, which is why it breaks easily when dropped. Should be aware of the location of the NFC pad, antennas and, Flex cable. Lastly if you don’t remove the old adhesive and or broken glass, you will crack the replacement, 99% alcohol works best for removing residue. Best of luck

Mine s8 was 5 days old when it slipped from my pocket and back glass cracked….sue them the gorrila glass is useless
