Hi, here’s my issue. The logic board on my Macbook Pro needs replaced and Apple will do that. I first need to get all my data from the hard drive before sending it in for repair. I understand I need to remove the hard drive (since the Macbook won’t boot up) and put the hard drive into an enclosure. But, I don’t have access to another Mac, just a PC. Here are my questions: 1)If I can do this, to what type of hard drive do I transfer the data to? An external one? If so, will any type work? 2)Without another Mac, is there a way to know that it worked? 3) Will this process copy EVERYTHING? Programs, email, photos, etc.? 4) Exactly how do I go about doing it, i.e., step by step instructions would be helpful and any cables needed, etc, as I have not done this before. I do know how to get into my Macbook and remove the hard drive, that’s not a problem, it’s just the process that I need answers about. Thank you and I hope I’ve been detailed enough. :o)
Phone a Mac friend. To access your drive externally use an adapter: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech… or use and external enclosure. http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/ES2.5…
Why don’t you just keep the HD until the Mac comes back from repair?
