Chosen Solution
Tried to type is my passcode and numbers 7,8,9 were non responsive causing me to restore. After restoring the passcode was removed, but the bottom row of icons were still unresponsive. The middle and upper half of the touchscreen still works fine.
HB SA, sounds like a bad digitizer. Replacing the complete display assembly should fix this. Hope this helps, good luck.
