Hi all, purchased an iPhone XR as a bit of a project to try fix up. The phone was dropped by the previous owner and since then both front and rear facing cameras have stopped working, also the flash isn’t working. firstly, I inspected the flex connections and can see that all are installed correctly onto the board, none have ripped off or anything. The cables themselves don’t have any damage on at all either. my first attempt to fix was replace the rear facing camera, unforuntely that hasn’t fixed the problem and both cameras remain black and still the flash doesn’t work. Im not too sure what to do next, maybe the front facing camera flex is shorting or has just packed in? I really want to keep Face ID, at the minute that’s not working just saying Face ID unavailable because I presume the front facing camera isn’t working. any other diagnostics I can try? Just trying to see what the issue is exactly Regards, Stewart

Well, you picked the monkey from previous owner’s shoulder and placed it on yours. Cameras and flash are interconnected and the only hope for an easy fix has gone with the unsuccessful rear camera replacement. Diagnostics on an iPhone is not something you can learn overnight. Since you’re not ready to lose Face ID your only option is to find someone who’s able to do troubleshooting and microsoldering, not a DIY repair in any case.
