Hello, I just installed MX500 series 500GB SSD on my A1278 - 2351. I don’t have a back up or original boot disk. I went the the Internet recovery way and that show me High Sierra in the utility. Now, after what seemed like a good install, the computer restarted; apple logo shows up, progress bar fills about an ⅛ of the way then it reboots again, doing it over and over. Only things I can think of is:
- the SSD is not compatible
- high sierra not compatible with this old computer. What do you guys think? Update (05/23/2020) Thank you for the answer. Please check out this link, this shows it is compatible. And I had searched and n the crucial website before purchasing the SSD. Is there a way to make it work with my Macbook or do you think its an error on the crucial website and Ifixit.com? You have a simple problem! The SSD you are trying to use is not compatible with your system! The Crucial MX500 SSD is a fixed SATA IIII (6.0 Gb’s) drive. Your system 13” MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo (Mid-2010) only has a SATA II (3.0 Gb’/s) interface. You need either a fixed SATA II speed drive or one that has the ability to match the systems SATA I/O speed (auto sense) like a Samsung 860 EVO note the differences between the two drives specs! This one offers compatibility for SATA II
Hi there I have the same issue with my 2011 13 inch MacBook pro, I took out the stock 500gb HDD and formated it on my Mac mini then put it back in my macbook pro then re installed Mac os high sierrra, after restarting, the apple logo appears then the bar underneath went like 1/8 of the way then it restarted again and again and again, I was just gonna use this for web browsing, what do you guys think happened? Hope someone can help me , thanks in advance guys!
