Hi there. I had recently bought a N3DSXL 2015 with broken (rage damage) touch screen. (And visible trauma damage around the casing) Initially it was not booting until i replaced it. Next I saw that the charge port needed repairing (missing pin). I had removed and replaced the charge port. Now my 3DS won’t turn on or boot other than a non pulsing blue light and non lit black screens. Is it possible that I fried something while removing the charge port? The system can still charge (orange light). The wifi cable looks abit kinked. Would a shoddy wifi card cable cause a N3DSXL 2015 from booting? I’m thinking that maybe the screen/hinge flex cable may be broken even though I see no visible damage. I have removed the SD card etc and tried to go into recovery mode which it won’t. Can anyone advise me on where to go from here?
Hi! You said you had to remove the charging port? As you said, perhaps you fried something else with the soldering iron while at it, though if you were really careful chances are you did not. I would take a closer look at the top screen ribbon and at the motherboard. Is there no way you can test the upper half of the console with the lower half of another one? Because if the top screen turns out to be fully functional you should replace the motherboard, as you may still have fried something while repairing it.
Can you check if there is a short on the charging port, maybe a bit of solder joining one or more of the pins together?
