I am working on my ps3 i followed the “Installing PlayStation 3 Slim Blu-ray Disc Drive” guide to take it down and i looked up some other videos to take apart the blu-ray drive. I need help on fixing the Blu-ray drive. i can take it apart but i need help knowing what to do to fix the player. right now the player will not suck in the disc but i can put a disc in manually but nothing will happen. the only thing disc will do is eject. Please help me.
If you know how to take apart the drive, remove the metal shield and the second layer. Once that is removed you should see a gear mechanism in the bottom right corner. Look at it and make sure it is engaged to the sprockets. If not, there is a release with a spring on the left side that you will have to turn to release the black platform. Now re-engage the drive mechanism by pushing it against the white sprocket, while turning the sprocket. Once it’s back together reassemble and test. I’ve found this to be one of the more common issues for the problem you described. Good luck, and let us know how it goes…
