Hey guys! So I acquired a powerbook 180 from work. Unfortunately, it didn’t work when I plugged it in. I opened it up, took it apart, and found a bulging capacitor. It’s square, has the letters KM on it, and is set at pins labeled “D15” on the logic board near the charging port. It gets very hot when plugged in. Any idea how I would go about fixing this or acquiring parts? Pictures at this link: http://imgur.com/a/Y6xjv
You can see there is electrolyte leaking from the part. Thanks! -A
afischer15, just checked your images again. The “KM” you referred to is actually a “KW” That marking and the D15 identify your component as a DDZ13B SURFACE MOUNT PRECISION ZENER DIODE. The part is available at places like this. The datasheet containing all the specs for the diode is available right here. Hope this helps, good luck
Hello, afischer15! Please let me know, you just replaced the diode DDZ13B and the computer turned on successfully?
