I just finished putting a replacement battery in my phone which was pretty straightforward and it went well enough, but after reassembly I’m left with black waves or circular wrinkles like a water droplet wave in my iPhone background. It is mostly noticeable on white backgrounds and seems to move or disaapear when I press on the glass? I’ve reattatched / inspected the plugins 3 times and cleaned the inside of the phone but it remains. What would this be? Thanks.

I’ve been inside most of the iPhones Apple manufactures although I have as yet to get under the hood of the new ”X”. Most of the problems I’ve found where video distortion is the issue can usually be found with the digitizer itself. Yes, it’s possible to improperly reinstall the ribbon cable connector for the digitizer panel though it shouldn’t have been necessary to do so in the first place for a simple battery replacement. I would recheck this connection for sure, but my next move would be a replacement digitizer!

Did your battery come with a little spongy pad on top of the connector?
