I got a broken toshiba satellite c850 that was faulty, the black screen of death came when i tried booting it, but it worked when i renoved the cmos and put it back in. A few days later it gave me the black screen of death again, i have already tried the basic troubleshooting including the discharge trick whatever its called, i have tried holding in the loose stick of ram, replacing the cmos battery and so on but nothing! Please help!
Hi Bryn, Have you tried connecting it to an external monitor or TV? If that works then loose cable to screen or defective screen. That model is from 2011. Remove the CMOS again but this time replace it as it is probably not holding it charge. When you do get it going agian, this time, update the BIOS. Should be v6.20. https://support.dynabook.com/support/vie… It can be updated from Windows or use Rufus v3.11 to make a bootable USB flash drive from the “iso” file. Hope this helps!
