Hello, Couple of nights ago I close the lid of my macbook and the next day I woke up to a permanent black screen. I tried Resetting the PRAM, SMC… I connected an external monitor and nothing happened, until booted in safe mode. I managed to retrieve my info and boot into recovery (via external monitor) to format and re-install OSX. Did a clean install and it still wont boot. Tried Safe mode and it worked (external monitor) So i need your help to understand if it could be repairable or i have an expensive bookend. Thanks !

I’m sorry I missed this post ;-{ I suspect all of you encountered a problem with the backlight power circuit. I’ve had a few of these come in. To prove this is the issue you should be able to shine a flashlight into your display logo (a poor mans backlight) you should see the faint image of your desktop icons. If you do then your logic board needs repair. I would first see if you can get Apple to cover it under warranty, If you can’t get it fixed under warranty you might be able to get someone with micro soldering skills to replace the driver which is on the back side of the logic board.
