Hi everyone, i opened my ipod to change clickwheel and the headphone jack flex. I have to add that I was a bit rude to her while opening. After i changed the stuff, i realized that when i plug the battery, she doesn’t open. (Normally she was opening automatically just after plugging the cable.) So I tried to connect her to the PC with USB but there’s just a blank black screen and no response from the PC. After some challenges with the board like un/plugging everything, i got half lighted screen with just a red cross. And recently I got full lighted boot up screen and after a cross with no hdd plugged. But when I plugged the hdd, it didnt boot again. I dont know where is the problem, the board or hdd or its connector. Any ideas for what to do?
To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)
- Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
- Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn’t set to go to sleep. If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button. and this solution from Apple Restore iPod from Disk Mode
- Disconnect iPod from your computer.
- Manually put iPod into Disk Mode as explained in support document 93651.
- Open the latest version of iTunes and connect iPod.
- Restore iPod as explained in support document 60983. The other thing that you MAY try is the following. It is suggested in a few forums and I am not sure of it. The hard drive maybe stuck. turn on the ipod and listen for constant clicking. If you hear constant clicking , GENTLY hit the ipod against something hard a couple of times. Do it gently so that you dont break it. Ultimately I do believe that you are looking at a new HDD but who knows sometimes these little shortcuts help. Good luck to you
