Chosen Solution
So I changed my rMBP screen for the second time and I can’t get it to work. Boots to a black screen, works well through HDMI. FaceTime camera works as well. Tried putting back the cracked screen and worked well. I tried installing it through the iFixit guide. Everything is well connected. What could I be doing wrong? Help please :)
Did your replacement screen come in the aluminum housing? You say the old, cracked screen works before and after the replacement of the “new” screen? You may have a failed replacement screen. You should also check the male and female screen connectors. The connectors are very delicate and will be damaged if pressure is improperly applied. The connection pitch is narrow enough that this is not always visible to the naked eye. If you have access to a good magnifying glass, or even better, a 10X loupe, inspect the connector and cable carefully. This also applies to any other connector you played with during the process.
