Hi everyone, Recently my Big Blue Party speaker just wouldn’t turn on. Since then, even with the power cord in the speaker, I can’t get the speaker to operate. I’ve read on this a bit, and was wondering if the battery could be the problem? Even though it’s plugged in, could the battery just not hold a charge anymore, or is my speaker busted? Thanks
Don’t use it! It’s been recalled as a fire hazard. See if you can get your money back first: Brookstone announced the recall of 164,000 wireless speakers because of the risk of fire associated with their lithium-ion batteries. The affected model is the Big Blue Party, a large indoor-outdoor speaker that was sold by major U.S. retailers and websites from December 2013 through August 2018 for about $200. Consumers should stop using the devices immediately. Brookstone filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this year, complicating the process for consumers to obtain a partial refund. https://www.consumerreports.org/recalls/…
I think I may have stumbled on to the problem. My speaker was doing the same. Light came on, speaker plugged in, it would turn on momentarily but then shut off. It’s been like this for months and I simple couldn’t bring myself to throw it out. I tried to turn it on today, but no power. Looked for the power cord but couldn’t find it. I borrowed the power cord from my Bose speaker. It has the same connection. Plugged it in…It freakin works. Amazing! It looks like, at least my problem was not a bad speaker, but a bad charging cable.
check if the adapter is connected and press the light button on the bottom and press the power button in the center for around 120 seconds and then pair it with the reciever device.

Hi Ian and all fixers, This is my BBP condition: -The charging red-LED doesn’t turn on when it should: charger connected, battery not full. -The ac adapter led is on, and there is output electricity (18V) So i did: -Opened the bottom cover, and unplugged the battery from charging PCB -Connected the ac adapter and the speaker can turn on without battery! Im not sure if a bad battery could interfere with ac adapter only mode, but definitely you can try with no battery. Trial and error until isolate the buggy part. Kind, G
