Managed to drop my 6+ yesterday and the camera lens got a huge crack in it. Any idea what this would cost to repair at an Apple store, or if there is a better option?
Did you happen to get the extended AppleCare coverage? If not see if you can signup for it without them seeing your phone (often Apple will give you a day or two to decide). Try that first, if that won’t work just walk in to an AppleStore with a very sad face to see if they will fix it Apple often will be nice when the phone is so new as they see it as a PR issue to have a happy customer. If they won’t fix it for free see if they have a flat fee for the repair.
I believe the out-of-warranty (aka) drop damage charge from Apple would be $339. I would expect this to be a straightforward repair–if/when the lens becomes commonly available it would be far less to either DIY or have it done at a local repair shop.
Mine happened the same thing, I called apple costumer service and they replaced my phone for free. You should try and explain that you don’t know how that thing happened. Mine broke from sudden and I have zero clue how that happened!! I’m glad they replaced it for free.
See the post “How to replace iPhone 6 cracked camera lens”, maybe it can help you.
Apple will not replace your camera. Here’s why. Apple cannot simply give out $400 dollar items for free. What they will do is ask you what happened. You cannot even have A DENT or SCRATCH if you want it replaced. They will say no, and make you pay the whole price for the new iPhone. I had this exact problem, and they said no.
My camera completely broke of but the camera works if I say I don’t know how it happened would they do it
