I am considering repairing my iPhone X from home with an iFixit OLED kit. I’m pretty handy and I repaired an iPhone 5s with a barebones screen kit a couple years ago. The problem is that there is a small bend to the chassis, on the outer casing of the phone, right where the charging port is. At the moment, the bottom corners of the screen ride slightly high in the case as the kink is pushing up the centre of the bottom edge of the screen.
Its worth noting that the back panel is squeezed and bent slightly by the kink, whereas the front panel is straight but rides high on the bottom corners. The bend does not affect the functionality of the phone and the phone has worked just fine for months before I broke the screen.. Will this complicate a repair? Does anyone have experience with this?
It’ll absolutely lead to the screen flexing and may not seat properly. It could interfere with FaceID as well. I’d give it a shot. Just make sure you’re using a soft OLED panel. The hard OLED panels have poor quality and definitely don’t use an LCD replacement as this phone was designed to be used with a more efficient OLED panel. It is more expensive, but you can’t have champagne taste on a beer budget. iPhone X Screen
