Chosen Solution
I took apart my iPhone 5c and the pull tabs broke so went in with tools and the black foil tore. The iPhone is still apart and be that way for 2 days and today I come back to see the battery with pink liquid beside the black foil. The iPhone is going on display and I hope to keep it apart but is the battery safe to keep (not use) in a glass box.
WARNING!! Take the phone outside ASAP as it could ignite! You also don’t want to start a fire and the smoke is not healthy to breath. You’ll need to carefully remove the battery from the phone and contact your local fire department to see how to dispose of it properly in its damaged state.
