Hi, One year after I purchased my MacBook Pro 2017 Function Keys. I had some issues with the battery, after sometime I purchased a brand new one from iFixit and changed it, everything worked great. Now, after reapplying thermal paste to the CPU the battery doesnt get recognized, if I unplug the USB-C charger the system turns off. I have reset the SMC, PRAM but nothing seems to work, I’m suspicious of the Battery Daughter Data Cable (flex) that goes from the Small battery board to the Logic Board, I’ve purchased a new one but it will arrive in aprox 45 days, and still I’m not certain that it is broken or something. Currently I’m running it plugged to the charger but I want to know if there is something else I can do in the meantime. UPDATE
First I’m surprised you needed to replace the battery so soon. You really need to monitor your battery more aggressively. Apple did have an extended warranty program for bad batteries in the 2017 systems June 27, 2018: Apple offers free battery replacements for faulty 13-inch Fn MacBook Pros. Apple has a few other recall issues in this series. If you can get your self to an Apple Store or authorized service center I would as free is better than $$ Getting back to your issue I would install his gem of an app: CoconutBattery it will allow you to monitor your battery health. Post a snapshot of the apps window so we can see Adding images to an existing question Also why did you re-do your systems thermal paste? Is your system overheating?
