I’ve just purchased a previously owned Macbook and the battery life is, as to be expected, appalling. I’ve run Coconut and it claims my battery is good having only had 2 cycles and being installed last year. I’m concerned that the battery may be reporting incorrectly or has been replaced and something wasn’t reset. I’m new to Mac’s, so aren’t sure how these things work.
Coconut battery is a very reliable utility that reads all the infos stored in the logics of the battery. I’ve never heard of battery logics being hacked to show infos better than reality and I’m pretty confident the infos shown by the apple system profiler and coconut are reliable. Keep an eye for a few days on your statistics but I’d say be happy, you got a new battery in your Mac, enjoy it.
