You may have damaged the backlight circuit on the logic board if you disconnected the screen without disconnecting the battery first. To be certain, shine a bright flashlight on the screen when you connect it to iTunes. If you see a dim image, then your backlight circuit is blown and will require a micro-soldering solution.
