I have an A1181 Macbook. The system recognizes the battery but it doesn’t charge. I’ve already replaced the battery, charger and DC-in. The only two options I have is the logic board or the battery connector. Which of the two options makes the best sense? The laptop was given to me because the hard drive was damaged. I replaced the HDD and it was fine. I put it in the closet for a couple weeks and all of a sudden it wasn’t charging the battery. I tried all the recommended resets as well, but those didn’t work. Thanks….
The battery connector board is the most likely culprit. To be sure you get the correct part please be more specific on your exact machine; Go here to identify: https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Mac/MacBook… MacBook Battery Connector/Sleep Sensor (non-Energy Star) MacBook Battery Connector/Sleep Sensor (Energy Star)
An update to the situation. I ordered a new connector but it hasn’t arrived yet. Additionally, I decided to get a new battery on a whim, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s charging now. I guess it’s the battery, but I will be changing the connector anyway. That’s what I get for trying to buy a battery on the cheap.
