Hi, I have quite a serious problem with my laptop (HP Zbook 17) where the following things are faulty: Battery not chargingKeyboard is unresponsive, have to press really hardTrackpad unresponsiveCPU fan almost never works Because the diversity of issues, my first thought went to the motherboard however I’m not certain as I’m not very familiar with laptop hardware. What would be the best step to take to further diagnose the problem? I’ve had this issue for over a year now but I never really bothered trying to fix it because I mainly use a desktop however I’d like to know if it’s still worth trying to repair it or if I’d be better off just buying a new machine. Thanks in advance, Simon
This sounds like a very textbook motherboard issue. You might be out of luck aside from getting a new board. Make sure you try all troubleshooting routes, such as removing the battery and attempting to power from only AC, reseating memory, etc. Best of luck!
