My MBP is about 4 years old, and the old battery had a cycle count of 1000+ so I bought a replacement last week and replaced it myself. Everything worked great (patted myself on the shoulder) until a few days ago I noticed it wasn’t charging. The green LED indicator is on so I think the Magsafe isn’t broken. I’ve tried resetting the SMC & PRAM (or I think I did) but no luck. Not sure what my other options are but I think I’m going to try wipe the connectors with alcohol & cotton swab next. Here is the info on my batts / AC: Battery Information: Model Information: Serial Number: 9G925P26G4M0A Manufacturer: PS Device name: CL5322 Pack Lot Code: 4274 PCB Lot Code: 0b05 Firmware Version: 0000 Hardware Revision: 0000 Cell Revision: 0000 Charge Information: Charge remaining (mAh): 0 Fully charged: No Charging: No Full charge capacity (mAh): 3944 Health Information: Cycle count: 3 Condition: Normal Battery Installed: Yes Amperage (mA): -2626 Voltage (mV): 11069 System Power Settings: AC Power: System Sleep Timer (Minutes): 60 Disk Sleep Timer (Minutes): 10 Display Sleep Timer (Minutes): 15 Wake On AC Change: No Wake On Clamshell Open: Yes Wake On LAN: Yes Current Power Source: Yes Display Sleep Uses Dim: Yes Battery Power: System Sleep Timer (Minutes): 10 Disk Sleep Timer (Minutes): 10 Display Sleep Timer (Minutes): 2 Wake On AC Change: No Wake On Clamshell Open: Yes Display Sleep Uses Dim: Yes Reduce Brightness: Yes Hardware Configuration: UPS Installed: No AC Charger Information: Connected: Yes ID: 0x0100 Wattage (W): 60 Revision: 0x0000 Family: 0x00ba Serial Number: 0x00bb5bdf Charging: No Would it be safe to assume it’s the DC in board or logic board that’s causing this? Thanks in advance!!
Not necessarily - I have know new Chinese batteries to fail straight out of the box… If you can try the battery in another laptop - if that also fails to charge Contact your vendor about this. If this Answer is helpful please remember to return and mark it Accepted.
As Machead explained the the battery pack has a computer within it to monitor and control the charge. I would recommend resetting the SMC which should clear out any incorrect values Apple TN on reseting the SMC. That should fix things if the battery pack is good.
