Hi everyone, Having an issue where my battery doesn’t seem to be charging. Mac suddenly restarted yesterday without any warning. Initially I thought it was an app requiring a restart in the background. After I couldn’t see any apps doing anything, plugged it into charger even though it didn’t say low battery. I charged the mac over night and noticed that when I turned it on in the morning, it was at 41% battery. Furthermore, when I take it off the charger, it just turns off. After turning it on with the charger in, Mac is usable but: a) battery bar indicates that it’s not charging b) battery bar indicated 41% but after a few minutes of use without the charger, it turns off. Things I’ve tried:
- Cleaning the ports
- Trying different electrical outputs
- Restarting computer
- Resetting SMC Mac is 2014 model, with a new battery from IFIXIT purchased in October 2018. Any help appreciated. Thanks guys.
Resolved. Put in my original old battery last night and laptop working properly again. So issue was with the newer battery. Still not really sure what went wrong with battery. I inspected it visually and there didn’t seem to be any wear or tear. Also made sure that screws were nice and snug, but problem wasn’t resolved until I changed the battery.
