Why at start up my battery gauge reads14 but after a few it drops to above 12ish
@mchlwllngtn could be a worn battery as well as a failing alternator. Check the output of the alternator to verify that the gauge is true. Check this Ford ;-) guide 1997-2003 Ford F-150 Alternator Replacement on where to place the meter to confirm the output.
