The computer sounded like it shorted, called apple and they said that they needed to replace the screen $600. I ordered one online and used your instructions. Plugged it in and the same thing is happening with the replacement screen. When I flash a light I can see the screen. No backlight. How can I fix this?
Too bad you didn’t ask here before purchasing a new screen as that would have probably saved you some money, since backlight issues are hardly caused by a faulty screen. If your Mac suffered a fall or had some big or small liquid spill at some point, that would explain why backlight isn’t working anymore, but sometimes things even go bad on their own. Unfortunately you likely have a logic board fault that needs either a component level repair or a board replacement.
