Hello, The macbook pro’s backlight shuts off when the mac is open more than halfway. I tried an SMC and PRAM Reset, and disconnecting the battery then purging current. I suspect it might be a problem with the Hal Effect Sensor but I cannot find it. Where is it on this particular unit ? Thanks in advance Dave
Apple has a defect in the displays ribbon cables (it’s not the Hall lid sensor). You’ll need to bring it into an Apple Store to have the diaplay replaced under the extended warranty.
Hi, I am having the same issue with my laptop, except the display shows negative when opened more than half way. Apple store have quoted me £460 for a full display replacement but it was through no fault of my own at all. Did you get the issue resolved? Did apple make you pay?
