Hello, My backlight for my macbook air is not working, but if you shine a torchlight thru the apple logo you can actually still see the screen. sent to apple for troubleshooting and they say it’s the display that is damaged, not the logic board. and this will cause me around £400. i am not sure if this worth the price or not, and what does it means by display? does anyone think i can get it cheaper by repairing it somewhere else?
Did you go to an Apple Store or an Authorized Service Center? Did they just give it a quick look? While its possible the LCD backlight is damaged I often find the problem is on the logic board either the fuse link is blown or the backlight driver logic is damaged (WLED). Can you give us some background on what happened with your system. Like did you drop it or get a bang on the lid? Did you sit the system down or a wet surface or spill some liquid onto the system. These are the clues that can help us better understand what happened and what the likelihood is on what needs fixing.
