Hi, I replaced my macbook pro keyboard with one I bought from ebay. I assumed the backlight was separate from the keyboard (layer under keyboard) but now i’m not so sure as after I replaced the keyboard, the backlight doesn’t seem to be working anymore. Does anyone know whether the backlight is actually part of the individual keys on the keyboard, or is it on the layer under the keyboard? The white sheet that is glued to the keyboard? Thanks, P
The keyboard backlight is separate from the keyboard, and has an different connector. This connector is usually located just below the left fan, and it is easy to forget to plug it in, since the board usually sits on top of it. Make sure you have connected this, as it is near impossible to damage the keyboard backlight, unless you rip the ribbon for this. Also, the backlight will only come on when dark enough, so cover the camera and it should come on.
