Hello, Here is the story: The back plate of an iPad 2 Wifi & 3G needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, I was given a “Wifi only” back plate rather than a “Wifi & 3G” one. Although there was a SIM Card in the slot, the owner of the iPad told me that he doesn’t need or work via the SIM Card but via Wifi only. I was wondering if it is possible to use this new back plate at all. Can I just fix the card unit with adhesive tape (there are no holes, of course, for it)? This is my first repair of an iPad, so I would appreciate any input. Steffen

Without a plastic back the G3 cellar services won’t work. Best to get the correct case assembly.

It should fit. Do not install SIM card tray and the top antennas, everything else stays the same
