I had the speaker output from my stereo going into the line input jack on my MacBook and I accidentally turned up the volume way too loud and the computer just shut off. When I went back in, I checked the input section in settings and nothing was there, nor were there any outputs and when I played a youtube video, no sound came out. So does anyone know what I blew up, where it is and how I can check it? TIA

I would first try resetting Pram and Smc, in case it is just a glitch. If those don’t give you your sound back, it’s basically useless to open the Mac searching for blown components. Audio input is filtered by resistors and capacitors, but if you have no output sound either it means the filter system got crushed and possibly a surge went all the way up to the audio codec. There are tenths of components involved there and nothing replaceable without testing and soldering.
