My Asus X555L has been flickering for a long time. I got it about 1 and a half years ago. The problem does not occur when the laptop is plugged in. I have tried all suggestions on the internet with no success. I think it might be a problem with the LCD inverter. Has anybody else fixed this problem before? If so, please help me. It it really annoying. Edit: see my post at the bottom

Update: I’ve discovered that the flickering problem most likely has to do with the LCD inverter - the chip that controls the LCD screen. It is definitely not a software problem because it has the same issue when in the BIOS setup and booting a os from a USB drive. Since the LCD inverter is attached to the screen, I would recommend replacing the LCD screen, not the battery. You can find them on Ebay for as little as $43: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R4… I think this is a design flaw in this laptop model. I personally would recommend buying a better computer.

next time the screen flickers go immediately to the even log and see if an error is recorded . If there is an error this may help shine a light on it . If there is no error code before jumping on the invertor you may want to test your battery . If your battery is getting old it may say 70 % but its may be failing . If the battery dies with less than two hours of use it may be time to replace the battery . bad batteries can cause a lot of different problems and if your not having any screen issues when its plugged in Id tend to look long and hard at the battery. If after replacing the battery you still have no joy then replace the invertor . This is a helpful video towards that end https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S87niyGJ… Some other things to check are the screen cable at the hinges and the screen itself . Hope this helps
