My little brother stick some metal in the headphones jack hard of my Macbook Pro Retina 15 (2014) and it damaged. The OS X detected as Optical output and speaker does not work when it stuck at optical. Then I take it to store at my local. They are unable to fix it because they have to replace the logic board. I wonder that if Icould replace headphone jack? by myself.
Depending on your exact system you might be able to replace the headphone jack without needing to replace the logic board. One version offers a separate sub assembly while some have the jack as part of the logic board. Pop the bottom cover off and look at the logic board where the jack is located. Do you see a grey plastic box or do you see a ribbon cable connection on the logic board? If you can’t replace the sub assembly, the part is a custom to Apple so you won’t have any luck finding it and it’s a big job to desolder to replace it.
